-General Information: Cara Zentner Major’s life was tragically cut short on January 29, 2011, at the age of 36. She left behind her two children, Caitlyn (9) and Nicholas (7), along with a family who loves and misses her every day. While her passing created an irreplaceable void, HUGs from Cara honors her memory by supporting grieving families and providing comfort to those navigating loss. Through this tragedy, we have recognized a profound need for grief support services and are committed to using the lessons learned from Cara’s passing to help others cope with their own journeys through grief.

-Mission: HUGs from Cara is dedicated to providing a compassionate space where grieving children, families, and friends can find comfort, support, and healing. Through education and resources, we strive to raise awareness about children's grief, ensuring that no child or individual ever feels alone in their loss.

In 2012, with the help of local Assemblyman Gary Finch, we successfully had Children’s Grief Awareness Day recognized in New York State, reinforcing our commitment to advocating for grieving children and shining a light on their experiences.We offer a variety of grief support materials, including free downloadable pamphlets, a grief workbook, a children’s book, and eBooks to help families through their healing journey. Our monthly craft subscription provides children with a meaningful way to honor their loved ones, while our annual remembrance event, A Light to Remember, offers a special opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the lives of those we have lost.
